CGS24
CGS24 Glaze, wenge colour
Wenge-coloured pigmented wiping stain (glaze) based on natural-origin pigments. Gives a natural, slightly muted dark tone, evens out colour variation in the wood and picks out the pores. The long open time lets you work large panels without rushing. Not a protective coat on its own — once dry it must be overcoated with primer and lacquer.
- Furniture, mainly in open-grain timber — oak, ash (solid and veneer)
- Open-pore finishing of oak kitchen fronts (acrylic system)
- Official CGS24 page: exterior timber (decks, verandas, gazebos, garden furniture, cladding, fences) — see note

Stir well before use — the pigment settles. Spray an even wet coat, then rub it into the pores with a brush/rag along the grain, taking the excess off the flats.

- Don'ts
- Don't leave the glaze uncoated — it is not a finish (dealer).
- Don't sand the glaze coat.
- Don't prime while a white rag still lifts colour.
- Don't leave excess on the flats — poor primer adhesion and a muddy look.
