ATL1 M

ATL1 M clear acrylic tinting converter, matt (20 gloss)

Clear 2K acrylic (acrylic-isocyanate) tinting base: mixed with CS pigment pastes on a tinting machine to make tinted clear lacquers and, with white/opaque pastes, enamels. High physical and chemical resistance, non-yellowing, very transparent, shows off the grain on open-pore finishes.

  • Base for tinted clear lacquers in the SPECTRUM tinting system
  • Base for in-house acrylic enamels to RAL/NCS
  • Open-pore and closed-pore finishing of interior furniture and cabinet doors
  • Pale and white shades where non-yellowing matters

    Standard hardener.

    Official ATL1 M page: 10–20 %. Use 20 % on tinted batches.

  • AC40 / AC41Hardener
    % by weight: 10–20 %catalog

The 2025–26 catalog lists AC41 as an alternative for the whole ATL1 family.

    Catalog gives 10–20 % for ATL1 as a family, not split UM/M.

  • AC40Hardener

Suggested (derived) default for tinted batches.

  • S50 / S80Thinner

S50 normal evaporation, default; S80 slow, above ~25 °C and on big flat panels.

S80 levels better but catches more dust and sags easier; neither changes cure time.

Tinting: CS pastes (for solvent-based enamels) dosed per SPECTRUM recipe. Pearl/metallic CS 00xxx pastes do not go into ATL1 — they are for the separate converter ATL2 (max 10 %).

CH pastes are for waterborne enamels (2025–26 catalog p.16); do not use in ATL1.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Sanded, dust-free wood/MDF over an acrylic or PU primer; for open-pore work, over a thin coat of clear acrylic primer (e.g. ATS20).recommended
Sanding
Primer P280–P320 (acrylic) / P320–P400 (PU) before the ATL1 coat; denib only between ATL1 coats.recommended
Temperature and humidity
18–25 °C, RH 50–70 %; above 25 °C switch to S80recommended
Don'ts
  • Don't use CH (waterborne) pastes — CS only
  • Don't run past pot life or top up old mix with fresh
  • Don't sand or polish the final matt coat
  • Not for exterior use (interior material; for exterior use converter ATL60180)

Storage

Safety: Flammable 2K solvent-borne material; AC40 hardener contains isocyanates. Spray booth with extraction, A2P2 carbon respirator and gloves.
