PTS20700
PTS20700 high-solids clear PU sanding sealer
Two-pack clear polyurethane sanding sealer with high solids (57 % part A). Good adhesion to a range of timbers and MDF, excellent grain filling, wets out well, stays flexible and resists shrink-back (catalog, dealer). Fast drying and sands easily (official site). On solids it is the highest-build of Technocolor's clear PU sealers (PTS20 45 %, PTS50 A 51 %, PTS60 50 %).
- clear finishing of interior items in a range of wood species
- grain-filling sealer under PU lacquers when you want a closed-pore finish in fewer coats
- sealing MDF and veneer under a clear finish

- PC20Hardener% by weight: 50 %official% by volume: 60 %official
standard option
Fixed ratio, so weigh it: 100 g sealer + 50 g PC20 (100 : 60 by volume, because part A is about 1.2× denser than the hardener).
- PC72Hardener% by weight: 30 %official% by volume: 35 %official
alternative to PC20 — listed only on the official site (not at the dealer or in the catalog)
PC72 is the slowest, most flexible aromatic hardener, and the worst for yellowing (catalog p.19). It gives a more elastic, slower-hardening film. The dealer sells a separate sister base, PTS20701, for PC72 (57 % solids, PC72 30/35, S50 20–30/25–40, touch-dry 20 min, full dry 8 h). No sanding time is published for PC72, so allow more than 4 h (workshop estimate).

always, to working viscosity
S50 is the universal medium-evaporation thinner, the default for vertical work. It does not change cure time.
- S80Thinner% by weight: 20–30 %recommended
heat above ~25 °C, large flat panels (workshop advice, not Technocolor)
More dust nibs and sag risk on verticals.

Use the catalysed mix within 3–4 h. On a 1.5 mm gun you'll need the full 30 % thinner and lighter passes, and you'll lose build.

Not a manufacturer-listed method — only if you already run airmix. Don't confuse with PTS50/PTS50 A, which are meant for it.
Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Sand bare wood to P180–P220 (solid) / P220–P240 (veneer, MDF), de-dust, 8–10 % MC. Stain fully dry.recommended
- Don'ts
- don't exceed 30 % thinner by weight
- don't use the mix past its 3–4 h pot life
- don't build several heavy wet coats without flash-off — high solids trap solvent
- don't leave it as the final finish — it's a sanding sealer and the aromatic hardener yellows
Storage
Safety: 2K PU with aromatic isocyanate in solvent: flammable; spray in an extracted booth wearing a charcoal respirator (A2/P2 or better), nitrile gloves and eye protection. Don't seal leftover catalysed mix in a closed tin. (General 2K PU practice, not from a Technocolor data sheet.)
