LGA6AB16
LGA6AB16 Clear PU tinting converter, 10 gloss
Two-pack polyurethane clear converter with a deep matt (10 gloss) finish, from the solvent-borne converters range of the TECHNOCOLOR tinting system. Base for strong and dark enamel shades tinted with pigment pastes; untinted it can be used as a clear 10-gloss topcoat in its own right. Excellent scratch and yellowing resistance. Catalysed with LNB20 or LNB42 at 50 % by weight (50 % by volume), thinned with LZC8643 at 30 % by weight (35 % by volume). Spray at 120–150 g/m².
- Clear base for tinted deep-matt (10 gloss) PU enamels in strong and dark shades, mixed to SPECTRUM recipes
- Stand-alone clear 10-gloss topcoat on furniture and fronts (official: 'can be used as a finish coat')
- Work where scratch and yellowing resistance matter

Mixing matrix
- LNB20Hardener% by weight: 50 %official% by volume: 50 %official
Default: pale shades and untinted clear where non-yellowing matters.
Fixed 2:1 ratio — weigh it. Dealer: LNB20 'for the LBA and LGA series'.
- LNB42Hardener% by weight: 50 %official% by volume: 50 %official
Dark and strong shades where faster drying and a harder film are wanted.
LNB42 dries faster and gives a harder but more brittle, more yellowing film than LNB20 — not for whites, pastels or untinted clear; not recommended in systems of more than three coats.
- LZC8643Thinner% by weight: 30 %official% by volume: 35 %official
The only listed thinner (Milesi slow PU thinner).
Gives ~16 ± 2 s Ford 4 (a DIN4 cup reads slightly longer) working viscosity. Slow: lays the matt down evenly but stays tacky longer; doesn't change cure. Density 0.860 kg/l.

Application
HVLP

- Consumption
- 120–150 g/m² per coatofficial
- Coats
- 1–2 coats over a sanded PU primerrecommended
- Recoat
- after ≥ 2 h (overcoatability per sibling TDS); after ~24 h scuff-sand firstrecommended
- Sanding between coats
- P320–P400 between coats once hard-dry; denib P600–P800 only; never sand or polish the final 10-gloss coatrecommended
Official: 'Spray 120–150 g/m²'. Stir thoroughly before use — matting agent settles; stir again after adding pastes and hardener.
Conventional spray
- Pressure · fluid
- gravity/suction cup or 0.8–1.2 bar potrecommended

Conventional air spray — more overspray and loss than HVLP/airmix.
Airmix (air-assisted airless)
- Pressure · fluid
- up to 20 bar (official methods page); many modern airmix pumps run 40–70 bar for a thin clear PU — start low and raise until the tails disappearofficial

Best choice for production runs of fronts.

For chairs and assembled furniture; check the mix's resistivity.
Airless
Not recommended for the finish coat — uneven matt.
Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Over a sanded PU primer (P280–P320), dust-free; wood moisture 8–14 %. White primer under pale tints, clear or tinted primer under dark/transparent tintsrecommended
- Sanding
- primer P280–P320 before topcoat; never sand the final matt coatrecommended
- Don'ts
- Don't apply below 15 °C or above 30 °C.
- Don't eyeball the hardener (50 % by weight) — weigh it.
- Don't use LNB42 under whites, pastels or untinted clear — it yellows.
- Don't sand or polish the final 10-gloss coat — it goes patchy and shiny.
- Don't use the mix past its 3 h pot life.
- Don't put on more than ~150–160 g/m² per pass — sags on verticals.
- Don't swap in other systems' hardeners or thinners (AC40, PC20, S50, etc.) — only LNB20/LNB42 and LZC8643 are listed.
Storage
- Shelf life
