C20051
C20051 PU hardener for PPS40720 primer
Isocyanate hardener (part B) for PPS40720, the white PU primer for PU-foam mouldings (PPU) and expanded polystyrene. No product page of its own and not stocked by any dealer we checked — the code is only known from the official PPS40720 mix table: 20 % by weight / 30 % by volume. By its numbering (C20040 = standard, C20041 = flexible hardener for the PPS40 primers) it belongs to the C200xx primer-hardener series and is matched to the foam primer; the dealer's PPS40720 listing talks about higher flexibility and better adhesion on flexible parts and 'difficult' PU foam.
- Part B for PPS40720 primer — the only hardener the manufacturer lists for it
- Priming cast PU-foam and expanded-polystyrene parts before PU enamels

Mixing matrix
- PPS40720base% by weight: 20 %official% by volume: 30 %official
always; the only hardener listed for PPS40720
Fixed ratio: 100 g primer + 20 g C20051 (or 100 ml + 30 ml). Add hardener to the base, stir, then thin.
- S1000Thinner% by weight: 10–30 %official% by volume: 20–40 %official
the official thinner for the PPS40720 + C20051 mix
On polystyrene start at the low end and test on an offcut — the solvent can eat the foam.

Characteristics
- Chemistry
- polyisocyanate for 2K PUrecommended
- Aromatic or aliphatic
- probably aromatic (yellows; fine under pigmented enamel)recommended
- Density ratio
- ρ(part A) / ρ(C20051) ≈ 1.5recommended
- Density
- 1–1.1 g/cm³recommended
- Elasticity
- per dealer note: high flexibility and better adhesion to the substrate; recommended for flexible parts and 'difficult' PU foamdealer

- Moisture sensitivity
- reacts with moisture: goes cloudy, thickens, causes bubblesrecommended

Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- See PPS40720: degrease PU foam to remove mould release and scuff; polystyrene — de-dust only.recommended
- Temperature and humidity
- 18–25 °C, RH ≤ 70 %recommended
- Don'ts
- Don't change the 20 % by weight ratio or add extra 'to speed it up' — excess isocyanate makes the film brittle, too little leaves it soft and tacky
- Don't swap in C20040/C20041/PC20 without checking with Technocolor — equivalence isn't confirmed
- Don't leave the tin open: the hardener pulls moisture, goes cloudy and thickens
- Don't use hardener that has gone cloudy or thick
- Don't use it with other bases — the manufacturer lists C20051 for PPS40720 only
Storage
- Storage temperature
- +5…+25 °C, tightly closed, dryrecommended
Safety: Contains isocyanates: wear a carbon-filter respirator (air-fed is better), gloves and eye protection, ventilate well. Flammable liquid. Can cause respiratory and skin sensitisation.
