ATL50 DM

ATL50 DM thixotropic acrylic lacquer, dead matt (5 gloss)

Two-pack thixotropic acrylic lacquer (acrylic-polyurethane cured with the aliphatic AC40 hardener). Sag-resistant, very clear, lightfast, flows out well on flat panels; high physical and chemical resistance and non-yellowing with age. Ideal for complex shapes, chairs and balusters.

The official methods page recommends electrostatic for chairs and table legs, ATL50's core use. Use the airmix/air-spray settings; check conductivity on the unit (solvent-borne acrylic on S50 is usually fine).

Temperature and humidity
All data at 20 °C. Above ~25 °C switch to S80.
Don'ts
  • Don't lay it on heavy on flat horizontal panels: thixotropic lacquers flow less, so you get unfilled pores and orange peel (t-color.ru characteristics page).
  • Don't use the mix past its 6 h pot life.
  • Don't sand or polish the final coat (especially G and DM: patchy sheen).

Oak-veneered door: sand MDF P150-P180 → CTU23 stain sprayed both sides, 10 min dry → ATS20, 20 min, flip → ATS20 second side → 6 h dry, sand P320-P400 → ATL50, 3-5 min, flip → ATL50 second side → 12 h dry.dealer

Safety: Solvent-borne two-pack with an isocyanate hardener (AC40): spray in a ventilated booth with an A2/P3 respirator, gloves and goggles; keep away from ignition sources.
