ATL20118

ATL20118 acrylic lacquer (5 gloss) — ultra-matt self-sealing lacquer with a natural raw-wood effect

Two-pack (AC40-catalysed) ultra-matt acrylic lacquer that doubles as its own sealer. Wets out very well and soaks deep into the wood, leaving almost no surface film, so the piece looks oiled or simply raw. High physical and chemical resistance, non-yellowing, very clear, and it shows the grain off nicely in open-pore finishes. Applied self-on-self in two coats with a light de-nib between them. The cured finish is hard-wearing, scratch-resistant and stands up to prolonged contact with hot and cold water.

  • cabinet / case furniture
  • bedroom furniture
  • doors
  • fronts (cabinet / kitchen fronts)
  • veneered and solid-wood work
  • open-pore finishes with a raw or 'oiled' wood look

Pot life 6 h at 20 °C. Don't cut the hardener to save money or soften the film — water and wear resistance are what you lose.

standard, normal-evaporation thinner; normal shop conditions (18-25 °C)

The official page says 30 %, the catalog 30-40 %. Go to 40 % in a cool shop or for the first, soaking coat.

  • S80Thinner
    % by weight: 30–40 %recommended

only above ~25 °C or on large flat panels when you get dry spray; can be blended with S50

Not confirmed by Technocolor for ATL20118 — try a test panel first. Expect more dust pick-up and a higher sag risk.

Gun 15-20 cm from the work, 50 % overlap, fan wide open. The first coat soaks in, so lay it even with no puddling. The second is the finish coat and should be just as thin. Don't pile it on: the sheen goes up and you lose the raw-wood look.

  • don't sand or polish the final coat
  • don't spray over oil or wax
