APL1 UM
APL1 UM white acrylic converter (tinting base), 10 gloss
White acrylic converter (ultra-matt 10 gloss) for the SPECTRUM tinting system. Tinted with CS pastes by recipe to any light/pastel RAL or NCS colour; untinted it can be sprayed as a white acrylic enamel (inference, not stated officially). High physical/chemical resistance, high hiding power, non-yellowing over time.
- Base for tinting acrylic enamels to light and pastel colours (CS pastes)
- White/coloured opaque topcoat for furniture and fronts where non-yellowing matters

Answers are based on the APL1 UM data and the products it mixes with.
Mixing matrix
- AC40Hardener% by weight: 10–20 (typ. 15) %official% by volume: 15–25 %official
Always. 10 % = softer, more flexible film; 20 % = maximum hardness and chemical resistance (kitchens, bathrooms).
AC40 is Technocolor's aliphatic, most non-yellowing hardener (catalog p.19). AC41 is listed for ATL1 but NOT for APL1 — don't swap without a test panel.
- S50Thinner% by weight: 30–40 (typ. 35) %official% by volume: 40–50 %official
Default: normal evaporation, verticals, 18–25 °C. On open-pore woods (oak, ash) the dealer advises thinning the sibling APL20 M 40–50 % at 200–250 g/m².
Does not change cure time.
- S80Thinner% by weight: 30–40 %official% by volume: 40–50 %official
Slow: above ~25 °C, large flat panels, when the matt enamel needs more flow-out time.
More dust pick-up and sag risk on verticals. Doesn't change cure time (workshop notes).
- CS 10 / CS 20 / CS 21 / CS 22 / CS 23 / CS 30 / CS 40 / CS 50 / CS 51 / CS 53 / CS 60 / CS 70 / CS 80 / CS 90 / CS 91Additive
For light and pastel colours. Dark and saturated colours are tinted on the clear converter ATL1.
CS pastes are dense — after tinting use a gyro mixer (leaflet lists CABO) or mix mechanically and thoroughly.

- 150 g/m²official
- Pressure · air · Cap
- ≤ 0.7 barrecommended
- Sanding between coats
- P320–P400 (pads K120–K180 on profiles)recommended
15–20 cm distance, 50–75 % overlap. Don't sand or polish the final coat — the 10-gloss level comes from the enamel itself.
Conventional spray
- Consumption
- 150 g/m²official
Transfer efficiency up to ~40 % (official methods page).
Airmix (air-assisted airless)
- Consumption
- 150 g/m²official
Official: airmix suits topcoats better than airless.
Airless
Officially recommended for primers on large flats; for a matt finish enamel prefer airmix or HVLP.
Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Primed and sanded (P240–P320) MDF/solid/veneer, dust-free.recommended
- Don'ts
- Don't use AC41 or PU hardeners (PC…) — only AC40 is listed for APL1
- Don't tint dark/saturated colours on it — use the clear ATL1 converter
- Don't sand or polish the final matt coat
- Don't use the mix past its pot life (~6 h at 20 °C)
Storage
Safety: Solvent-borne 2K acrylic; AC40 hardener is an aliphatic isocyanate. Spray in a booth with extraction, organic-vapour respirator (A2P2 or better), gloves and eye protection. Flammable.
