LNB16405 hardener for polyurethane coatings

Isocyanate hardener (second component) for MILESI polyurethane coatings, sold through Technocolor. The dealer describes it as 'the second component for polyurethane lacquers and enamels'. There's no product page on t-color.ru. It only appears there as an equal alternative to LNB71 in the LBR40, LBR43 and LBR45 PU-foam primers (20 % by weight / 30 % by volume). LNB71 is the adhesion-primer hardener (solids 50 ± 1 %). LNB16405 is a more general PU hardener for lacquers and enamels, but in the LBR primers it swaps one-for-one with LNB71 at the same dose.

  • second component of the PU-foam/MDF primers LBR40 (white), LBR43 (walnut), LBR45 (mahogany) — 20 % by weight
  • second component of MILESI polyurethane lacquers and enamels (per dealer description; specific bases and doses not published)

LBR40 — white PU primer for PU foam and MDF. The official page lists the hardener as 'LNB71/LNB16405': either one, same dose — 20 % by weight (30 % by volume).

Fixed dose — weigh it. Don't blend the two hardeners in one mix.

LBR43 — walnut-tinted PU primer for PU foam. The official page lists the hardener as 'LNB71/LNB16405': either one, same dose — 20 % by weight (30 % by volume).

Fixed dose — weigh it. Don't blend the two hardeners in one mix.

LBR45 — mahogany-tinted PU primer for PU foam. The official page lists the hardener as 'LNB71/LNB16405': either one, same dose — 20 % by weight (30 % by volume).

Fixed dose — weigh it. Don't blend the two hardeners in one mix.

Standard thinner for every LBR system on LNB16405: 10 % for maximum build on flat work, 20–30 % for verticals, carved PU-foam mouldings, or a tip smaller than 1.8 mm.

Add after the hardener and stir in.

Why ru

Tip and pressure are chosen for the LBR primer mix, not the hardener. On a 1.5 mm tip thin with LZC1051 to 25–30 % and accept less build.

Why ru

For production runs of PU-foam mouldings. Thin 10–15 % with LZC1051.

Process and compatibility

Mixing
Weigh LBR primer (part A) 100, add LNB16405 20 by weight, stir, then LZC1051 10–30. Let it stand 5–10 min and strain (125–190 µm). Don't mix more than you'll spray in about 2 h.recommended
Temperature and humidity
18–25 °C, RH max 70 %; in humid air the isocyanate reacts with water, which causes blushing and micro-bubbles.recommended
Don'ts
  • don't blend LNB16405 and LNB71 in one mix — pick one
  • don't eyeball the dose: too little gives a soft film, too much makes it brittle
  • don't use it in Technocolor PC/AC/EC-hardener systems without a test — compatibility isn't published
  • don't leave the can open: it picks up moisture, goes cloudy and gels

Safety: Contains isocyanates and organic solvents. Spray only in an extracted booth, wearing an A2P2 respirator (air-fed is better), nitrile gloves and goggles. Highly flammable.
