PolyurethanePrimer

LBR43

LBR43 PU primer, walnut, for polyurethane foam (PU foam mouldings)

Two-component polyurethane primer in a walnut colour for polyurethane-foam (PU foam) items: mouldings, cornices, frames, faux-wood decorative pieces. Excellent adhesion to PU foam, high build, sands very easily, thixotropic — holds on verticals and carved relief without sagging. The coloured primer gives an even wood-tone base for patina, tinted lacquer or enamel.

  • priming PU-foam items (mouldings, cornices, picture frames, imitation wood carving)
  • walnut-tone base under patina and clear/tinted lacquers
  • interior use only

  • LNB71Hardener
    % by weight: 20 %official% by volume: 30 %official

Primary hardener for the adhesion PU primers on PU foam.

LNB71: 50 ± 1 % solids; dealer describes it as the second component for adhesion PU primers for PU foam. Fixed ratio — don't overdose it to speed things up.

  • LNB16405Hardener
    % by weight: 20 %official% by volume: 30 %official

Alternative to LNB71 (the official card lists them as "LNB71/LNB16405"). Milesi's general hardener for PU lacquers and enamels.

Use one hardener per batch, don't blend the two.

  • LZC1051Thinner
    % by weight: 10–30 (typ. 20) %official% by volume: 20–40 %official

10 % for airless/airmix and max build; 20 % standard for HVLP/conventional; up to 30 % for fine carving, hot shop or a small nozzle.

LZC1051 is a general-purpose PU thinner with medium evaporation (dealer data). Thinner does not change cure time.

Percentages are per 100 parts of component A.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Thoroughly degrease the PU foam (wash off mould-release agent), dry, de-dust. Fill seams/defects with PU filler.recommended
Goes over
PU foam (ППУ) — bare, degreased
Goes under
PU pigmented enamels / RAL-NCS enamels (e.g. PPL20) / CQS patinas / PU clear lacquers (e.g. LGA21, LGA22, LGA210, PTL500) / acrylic clear lacquer ATL500
Sanding
P240–P320 or fine sanding mats on relief; scuff only — don't cut through on edges of the foamrecommended
Temperature and humidity
18–25 °Crecommended
Don'ts
  • don't use outdoors (interior product)
  • don't overdose the hardener
  • don't spray onto un-degreased PU foam — it will peel
  • don't sand before it's dry — it clogs the paper

Storage

Safety: 2K polyurethane with isocyanate hardener and solvents: flammable; spray in a booth with an organic-vapour respirator (A2P2) and nitrile gloves; don't seal leftover mixed material airtight.
