Water-basedImpregnation

CPH64

CPH64 Cherry wood impregnation (waterborne, exterior)

Cherry-coloured waterborne impregnation for exterior timber. Protects wood from the elements — temperature swings, moisture and insects — and gives it a decorative cherry tone. Even colour, strong protection against fungi, mould and wood pests, high lightfastness.

Mixing matrix

  • waterThinner
    % by weight: 0–5 %recommended

Only if needed (thickened product, topping up a dip tank).

Never thin with solvent thinners (S50/S80 etc.) — this is a waterborne product. For a lighter cherry, cut it with the clear CPH6 impregnation rather than water.

  • CPH6Additive
    % by weight: 0–100 %recommended

When a lighter, more transparent cherry tone is wanted.

Always test on a sample of the same species.

Percentages are per 100 parts of component A.

Lay on an even wet coat with overlap, no puddles or runs — otherwise you get colour patches; flood end grain well. Use a WB-rated (stainless) gun and hoses. Stir before use — the pigment settles.

Dipping

Consumption
60–80 g/m²official

Dipping gives good penetration of the colour into the wood; it is the usual way to apply a protective tinted impregnation in window production. Let the part drain fully, then dry. Keep the tank stirred.

Brush

Consumption
60–80 g/m²official

Synthetic-bristle brush, work along the grain and brush out surplus so there are no dark laps.

Flow coating

Consumption
60–80 g/m²dealer

Flow coating is listed by the dealer (not on the official page). The methods page says it is mainly used for stains.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Dry, clean, dust-free timber with no old film coatings; wood moisture 12–15 %; final sanding P120–P150 (coarser rather than finer outdoors, so it soaks in).recommended

bare wood
Goes under

Sanding
The impregnation raises the grain — denib lightly with P180–P220 before lazure/lacquer, carefully so you do not cut through the colour on edges.recommended
Temperature and humidity
Apply at +10…+30 °C, RH up to 80 %; not in direct sun, rain or on wet timber.recommended
Don'ts
  • Do not thin with solvent thinners.
  • Do not apply over old lacquer or paint — it has to soak into bare wood.
  • Do not let the product freeze.
  • Not for living interiors (use the biocide-free CPH6xx lazures indoors).

Safety: Protective impregnation with fungicidal/insecticidal action: wear gloves and goggles, and a respirator when spraying; not for interiors or food-contact surfaces.
