LTC40
LTC40 retarder (evaporation-retarding additive) for PU and NC coatings
Retarding agent from Milesi's LTC range of corrective additives. Slows solvent evaporation in all polyurethane and nitrocellulose coatings and improves flow-out. Mainly a hot-weather/summer additive. Does not change pot life, but lengthens the time until panels can be stacked. No product page on t-color.ru — LTC40 appears only in the thinner line of the LBA528 PU sealer (alongside LZC1026/LZC1051).
- Summer / above ~25 °C: slow evaporation of PU and NC coatings, cure dry spray, orange peel and dry edges
- Improving flow-out of PU and NC sealers and lacquers
- Thinner/additive for the LBA528 PU sealer (per the Technocolor page)
- Spray, roller coater and curtain coater

Answers are based on the LTC40 data and the products it mixes with.
Mixing matrix
- PU and NC coatings (part A)Additive% by weight: 5–10 %datasheet
Heat, summer, poor flow-out, dry spray — in any PU or NC coating.
Milesi sheet: 5–10 % on the first component; can also go into the already catalysed mix. It is added ON TOP of the normal thinner, not instead of it.
- LBA528Thinner% by weight: 10–30 %official% by volume: 10–30 %official
LBA528 thixotropic PU sealer (hardener LNB6/LNB77 50 %).
The page gives one range for all three thinners. LTC40 is a retarder: don't make up the full 10–30 % with it alone — see the recommendation below.
- LBA528Thinner% by weight: 15–25 %datasheet
LBA528, conventional spray (TDS), aim ~20 s Ford 4.
- LBA528Thinner% by weight: 20–40 %datasheet
LBA528, electrostatic spray (TDS).
- % by weight: LBA528: main thinner LZC1026/LZC1051 at 15–25 %, of which 5–10 % (on part A) is swapped for LTC40recommended
Hot (>25 °C), large panels, dry edges.
- LTC96Additive% by weight: 2–5 %datasheet
Alternative: per the Milesi sheet LTC96 (mainly for CIT roller stains) can be used in PU instead of LTC40.
LTC96 is not in the Technocolor catalogue. The sheet's wording "It's possible to use in PU products in order to LTC40" is read as 'instead of LTC40'; the % basis is not stated.

Application
Other
- Nozzle
- n/a — follow the reduced product (e.g. LBA528: HVLP 1.7–1.9 mm, see its record)recommended

Not applied on its own. With retarder the film stays open longer: go slightly lighter on verticals and give more flash time between coats.
Process and compatibility
- How to add
- Mix part A with hardener (or add LTC40 to part A first — the sheet allows either).; Weigh in 5–10 % LTC40 on part A, then the normal thinner to spray viscosity.; Stir and check viscosity in a DIN4 cup.recommended
- Temperature and humidity
- data at 20 °C / 70 % RH; product intended for the summer seasondatasheet
- Goes into

Storage
- Shelf life
- not published; stable in sealed original canrecommended
- Storage temperature
- 5–30 °C, tightly closed, ventilated, away from ignition sourcesrecommended
