LKR181

LKR181 White acrylic enamel for exterior use (30 gloss)

Two-pack white acrylic enamel for exterior timber. Officially: excellent sag resistance on verticals, good hiding, elasticity and non-yellowing. Cured with LNB99 (hardener for acrylic lacquers) at 40 %. It is the white counterpart of the clear exterior lacquer/converter LGA180.

  • windows, doors, shutters and other exterior timber joinery
  • garden furniture, gazebos, fences, play equipment — white opaque finish

    always

Fixed ratio: 100 parts enamel + 40 parts LNB99, by weight or by volume. Add hardener first, stir well, then thin. LNB99 is listed by the dealer as 'hardener for acrylic lacquers'. Close the hardener tin straight away — it is moisture-sensitive.

normal shop 18–25 °C, verticals, small parts

Officially 'PU thinner', evaporation rate not published; in the Milesi range it is the normal/medium one. Default 15 % is the middle of the official range (our pick).

heat above ~25 °C, large flat panels, when you need more flow-out

Officially the 'slow PU thinner' for PU and acrylic materials. Longer open time means more dust pick-up and more sag risk on verticals.

Recoat
without sanding while the film is still short of touch-dry (roughly within 2 h); if you miss that window, wait 24 h and sandrecommended
Sanding between coats
P320–P400 after 24 hrecommended

Stir the white base thoroughly from the bottom before adding hardener — the pigment settles. Strain the mix (125–190 µm).

Conventional spray

Consumption
120 g/m²official

Lower transfer efficiency (up to ~40 % per the methods page) — expect to use more enamel.

Airmix (air-assisted airless)

Consumption
120 g/m²official

Per the Technocolor methods page, airmix suits topcoats better than airless.

Airless

Consumption
120 g/m²official

For big simple flats (fences, boards). On furniture and windows the finish is worse than airmix/HVLP.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Timber at 12–15 % MC, clean and resin-free. Outdoors, treat with a protective preservative first (for LGA180 the dealer recommends XWC 30 Xilocrom), then primer or a first enamel coat. Sand bare wood P150–P180.recommended
Goes over
XWC30 / LGA180
Sanding
Between coats P320–P400 after 24 h. Don't sand or polish the final coat — a 30-gloss film will go patchy.recommended
Don'ts
  • don't change the hardener amount — 40 % only
  • don't thin past 20 %: you lose sag resistance and hiding
  • don't apply onto wet or cold timber, or when rain/dew is due
  • don't keep mixed material overnight

Storage

Safety: Solvent-borne 2K with an isocyanate hardener: spray only in an extracted booth, wearing an A2P3 respirator (or air-fed mask), gloves and eye protection. Flammable. (General advice, not from an SDS.)
