CPH622

CPH622 Water-based wax wood glaze (azure), light walnut

Water-based wax glaze pigmented in a light-walnut shade. Colours evenly without blotching, levels the tone well and is lightfast — it shields the wood from UV and does not fade. Contains wax and is meant as a finish coat with no lacquer on top. Biocide-free, so it can also be used indoors; outdoors, treat the wood first with a protective impregnation (dealer and 2022 catalog: CTH100; 2025–2026 catalog: CPH6).

  • Colouring and protecting exterior timber: gazebos, fences, garden furniture
  • Window frames, balconies, cladding on timber houses (over CTH100/CPH6 protective impregnation)
  • Interior woodwork too (biocide-free)

Single-component product: no mixing needed — use as supplied (see application below).

Mixing matrix

  • waterThinner

Only if the can has thickened or in hot weather; normally used neat.

Never thin with solvent thinners (S50/S80 etc.) — it is water-borne.

  • CPH600Additive

To make the shade lighter / more transparent.

Always test on the same species. For custom colours the official route is tinting CPH600 with CPH 1, 3, 9, 10 concentrates (1–10 %).

Percentages are per 100 parts of component A.

Application

Brush

Sanding between coats
normally none; if fibres raise after coat 1, a light scuff with a P220–P240 pad or fine abrasive sponge, dust offrecommended

Brush along the grain, working it well in, no runs or puddles; pay special attention to end grain. Stir before use — the pigment settles.

HVLP

Not an official method. If you spray, back-brush along the grain straight away, otherwise the wax and pigment just sit on top and the exterior finish won't last as long. Clean the gun with water.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Dry, clean wood with no old film finishes, resin or dust. Outdoors, apply a protective impregnation first (CTH100 per dealer/2022 catalog, or CPH6 per 2025–2026 catalog) and let it dry.
Goes over
CTH100 / CPH6
Don'ts
  • Don't lacquer over it — it's a wax-containing finish coat and lacquer adheres poorly to wax
  • Don't thin with solvent thinners
  • Don't apply on wet or frozen timber
  • Don't use outdoors without a protective impregnation underneath (CTH100 / CPH6) — the glaze contains no biocides
