XHT

XHT — "Hydrochrome" impregnating stain (coloured protective exterior wood impregnation)

"Hydrochrome" coloured protective impregnation for exterior timber (listed under 'Exterior'), water-borne (Milesi Hydrocrom line). Per the manufacturer: good colour uniformity, excellent protection that also guards against fungi, mould and pests, excellent weathering resistance, high lightfastness, easy to apply. Applied by dipping, brush, spray or flow coating at 40–60 g/m²; allow at least 6 h before the next coat (Milesi). Forms no film — it soaks into the wood. The official pages for the XGC063, XGC065 and XGC06D lacquer/primers also say they are 'tinted with XHT-series pastes'. The XHT line does not appear in the 2025–2026 Technocolor catalogue or at the official dealer t-colormarket.ru; the current exterior impregnations in the catalogue are the CPH series (CPH6, CPH60–CPH66).

  • protective/decorative impregnation of exterior joinery (windows, doors, etc.) — first coat in Milesi cycles C1/C2/C3 under XGC053 / XBC1→XGC63/73 / XBC2→XGC43/63
  • tinting the XGC063, XGC065, XGC06D lacquer/primers ('tinted with XHT-series pastes')
  • protection against fungi, mould and pests

Single-component product: no mixing needed — use as supplied (see application below).

Application

Dipping

Consumption
40–60 g/m²official

Per the official methods page: dipping gives good stain penetration and is the usual way to apply protective impregnating stain in window production; let the excess drain before drying. Immersion/drain times aren't published — set them on a test piece to land at 40–60 g/m².

Flow coating

Consumption
40–60 g/m²official

Flow coating is the production alternative to dipping and is mainly used for stains (official methods page). Filter the material returning to the tank.

Brush

Consumption
40–60 g/m²official

Brush is for small areas and repairs (official methods page). Lay it on along the grain with no puddles or runs; feather out anything that hasn't soaked in after a few minutes or it will blotch.

Spray an even wet coat with 50 % overlap and no pooling; give end grain a second pass. Don't exceed 60 g/m² — an impregnant must not build a film.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Clean, dry, sanded timber free of resin, dust and old coatings. The official wood-prep page says protective impregnation is needed where wood is permanently or periodically exposed to moisture, and that for water-borne stains/coatings the wood should be wetted, dried and fine-sanded first to raise and remove the grain.official
Goes over
bare wood
Goes under
XGC053 / XBC1 / XBC2 / XGC063 / XGC073 / XGC043
Sanding
C1: hand-sand P280 (or automatic brushing) after ≥6 h, before the finish; don't cut through the colour on edgesdatasheet
Temperature and humidity
apply at about +15…+25 °C, wood moisture ≤ 15 %, RH ≤ 75 %, not in direct sun or rainrecommended
Don'ts
  • don't go over 60 g/m² — an impregnation must not build a film
  • don't apply to wet or frozen timber
  • don't add hardeners or solvents — official data and the Milesi cycles apply XHT neat

Storage

Safety: No SDS found. Water-borne but contains biocides (anti-fungal/mould/pest) — wear gloves, ventilate, respirator when spraying; keep from frost; don't use indoors unless the manufacturer says so.
