XGC065

XGC065 exterior lacquer/primer, 15 gloss (3-in-1)

Single-pack waterborne 3-in-1 for exterior wood: the same material is the impregnation, the primer and the topcoat. Matt (15 gloss). It tints with XHT pastes, so one tin gives either a clear finish or a translucent colour. High weather resistance and easy to use.

Clean (ideally distilled) water only. Never solvent thinners like S50/S80.

  • waterThinner
    % by weight: 5–10 %recommended

First (impregnating) coat on bare, never-finished wood.

Brush along the grain and work it in; flood the end grain.

    % by weight: 0–10 (typ. 5) %recommended

Light tint to match the XHT impregnation.

A tinted finish protects the wood from UV much better than an untinted one.

Process and compatibility

Substrate preparation
Wood clean and dry (12–15 % MC), free of mould, resin and old film finishes. Sand P120–P150 (P180 for joinery), de-dust. Degrease resinous/oily species (larch, teak, iroko). On infected or unprotected wood apply CPH6 / CTH100 antiseptic first.recommended

End grain
Seal end grain with HTS30 (Technocolor clear end-grain mastic) or with 2–3 extra coats of XGC065recommended
Sanding
Light denib P220–P280 after coat 1 to knock down raised grain. Do not sand the final coat.recommended
Temperature and humidity
Air and surface at least +10 °C (ideally 15–25 °C), RH under 80 %. Not in direct sun, not on dew, not before rain; keep it dry for 24 h after application.recommended
Don'ts
  • Do not thin with solvents (S50, S80 etc.) — water only
  • Do not mix with 2K materials or add hardeners
  • Do not apply below +10 °C, on wet wood or ahead of rain
  • Do not apply over oil, wax or old film without stripping it fully
  • Do not leave south-facing exterior surfaces untinted — tint with XHT for UV protection
  • Do not let the material freeze in the tin

Storage

Safety: Waterborne: low odour, non-flammable. Wear gloves and goggles; when spraying use a particulate respirator (P2). Do not pour leftovers down the drain. Keep away from children.
