VTL40044
UV-curing matt clear lacquer for vacuum coating, 100 % solids, 20 gloss (furniture, mouldings)
One-pack clear matt (20 gloss) UV-curing lacquer, 100 % solids. Levels well, holds on edges and ends, needs no flash-off before the UV oven. Made for vacuum coating heads and for spraying mouldings, carved/relief parts, capitals, handrails and the like. High chemical and physical resistance, stable on the line. Thin only with VTL10000 (0–5 %).
- mouldings, picture-frame stock, profiles (vacuum coater)
- relief/carved parts, capitals, balusters, handrails
- furniture parts — matt UV topcoat over a UV primer

Only when you need lower viscosity (cold shop, fine profile, fast line). Warming the lacquer to 25–30 °C is the first choice.
VTL10000 is Technocolor's UV diluent; the catalog allows 0–5 % while still quoting 100 % solids, so it is presumably reactive and becomes part of the film (not stated outright). Do not use solvent thinners (S30/S31/S11 etc.): with no flash-off they stay trapped and spoil cure and adhesion. No % by volume published; densities are similar so roughly the same figure.

The lacquer's main method. Profiles must be dust-free (blow-off + extraction) — the head drags dust into the film. Cure straight away; the UV tunnel must light every face of the profile.

1.5–2.0 mm gun (by measured viscosity), 15–20 cm distance, 50 % overlap. On carved work hit the recesses first, then the high spots. Don't flood flat areas — a heavy film can come out shinier than 20 gloss.

For small runs and touch-up. If atomisation is poor, warm the lacquer — never add solvent.

Good for batch finishing of carved parts; better than airless for a topcoat (Technocolor methods page).
Electrostatic

Not listed by Technocolor. Electrostatic airmix may work on handrails/balusters if the lacquer's resistivity suits — check with the supplier.
Process and compatibility

- Profile sanded (brushes K60–K80, then K120–K150 on the primer) and dust-free. Any stain fully dry (moulding schedule: 5 min at 25–30 °C after CTU).schedule
- Sanding
- primer: K120–K150 brushes / P240–P320; between cured lacquer passes P320–P400; never sand the final matt coatrecommended
- Temperature and humidity
- material and parts 20–30 °C, RH 40–70 %, timber MC 8–10 %recommended
- Don'ts
- Don't thin with solvents — VTL10000 only, max 5 %.
- Don't exceed 5 % VTL10000.
- Don't leave open cans or the head reservoir in sunlight/near UV lamps.
- Don't run with faces shaded from the lamps — under-cured lacquer stays tacky and loses adhesion.
- Don't sand or polish the final matt coat.
Storage
- Shelf life
- typically 6–12 months in original sealed container (confirm on can label)recommended
- Storage temperature
- +5…+25 °C, darkrecommended
Safety: Contains acrylate monomers — skin sensitisers. Nitrile gloves and goggles; A2P2 respirator when spraying. Keep off skin; uncured spills stay wet — wipe up, don't wash skin with solvent. UV lamps: eye and skin protection.
