Mixing matrix
- S12Thinner% by weight: 25–40 (typ. 30) %official% by volume: 25–40 %official
Always — bring to spray viscosity. S12 is sold by the dealer as 'thinner for NC materials'; catalog: medium evaporation.
Dealer names S12 'thinner for NC materials'. Catalog (p.19): S12 = medium evaporation, listed for stains on medium-pore wood. Don't swap in the PU/acrylic thinners S50/S80 without a test.
- Hardener
Optional — for better physical/chemical resistance (official: 'adding a hardener gives greater physico-chemical resistance').
Technocolor does not publish which hardener or how much (not on the official page, dealer listing or catalog). Ask Technocolor's tech service. For orientation only: nitro-urethane systems are usually hardened with a small dose (~5–10 %) of an aromatic isocyanate — this is NOT Technocolor data; test on a sample first.

- Lightfastness
- moderate — NC films yellow/amber with age and UVrecommended
- Elasticity
- medium; NC can check/crack on thick builds or on moving solid timberrecommended
Application
HVLP
- Nozzle
- 1.4–1.6 (1.3 on small/profiled parts)recommended
- Pressure · air
- inlet ≈2.0 bar with trigger pulled; ≤0.7 bar at the caprecommended
- Pressure · fluid
- gravity cup; 0.5–1.0 bar if pressure potrecommended
- Spray viscosity
- 16–20 s DIN4 (VZ-4) at 20 °Crecommended
- Consumption
- 120–150 g/m²official
- Wet film
- ≈130–165 µm wet → ≈20–30 µm dry per coatrecommended
- Coats
- 2–3: 1 sealer coat + 1–2 finish coatsrecommended
- Flash-off
- ≈5–10recommended
- Recoat
- after ≈30–60 min at 20 °C; NC re-dissolves into the previous coat so no sanding window limit for 1Krecommended
- Sanding between coats
- P280–P320 after the sealer coat, P320–P400 or fine pad between finish coats; do not sand/polish the final 30-gloss coatrecommended
- Gun setup
- fan fully open, distance 15–20 cm, 50 % overlap, wet-but-light passesrecommended
Stir well — the matting agent settles. Keep coats thin: thick NC pops/blisters and blushes white in high humidity.

Brush
- Suitability
- not recommended for the full surface — only for small touch-up/restorationrecommended
Process and compatibility
- Substrate preparation
- Bare wood sanded P180–P240 (P150–P180 on oak/ash), dust-free, MC 8–12 %; stain (e.g. NC stains thinned with S12) fully dry firstrecommended
- Sanding
- P280–P320 after sealer; P320–P400 between finish coatsrecommended
- Temperature and humidity
- 15–25 °C, RH ≤ 70 %recommended
- Don'ts
- Don't put 2K PU/acrylic over NC — it lifts and wrinkles
- Don't use on worktops, bathrooms or outdoors unless hardened
- Don't lay it on thick
- No naked flames or sparks — NC is highly flammable
- Don't polish the final 30-gloss coat
Storage
- Storage temperature
- +5…+25 °C, sealed, away from heat and sparksrecommended
- Packaging
- sold per litre (price 514 руб./л, 'под заказ')dealer
Safety: Highly flammable liquid (NC is officially flagged as a fire hazard). Spray in an extracted booth with an A2-filter respirator and gloves. NC overspray/dust in filters is combustible — clean the booth regularly. With hardener added it contains isocyanates — respiratory protection mandatory.
